A sort of personal retainer.

You know just something of some sort of a friendly bot which you control , you equip, you level, you pick what class he will be. that sort thing. Ive talked to a few people they have also thought of this

Similar suggestions have been brought up, and the answer from the devs has always been (in as many or as few words) the bots are too damned dumb.

I have two retainers. I only use them at night though, so not much use on the battle field.
