I thought i would make a rough guide to help new players in hard mode, how to get far in the game fast as the standards of players in hard mode have dropped, Players seem to be carried too much in Normal Mode and are just not ready for the higher mode. Here is a few tips.
1. Do not die in the first wave of hardmode, this seems to be a problem of late. Archers/pikeman get behind a shield wall or take cover, find out where the team is going and time your archery shooting. Dont stand out in the open and keep shooting you will die straight away and frustrate the rest of the team by doing so.
2. If you want to get far in the game fast some great options are - 1st option is if your a sergeant/commando just shield for 2-3 weeks, use the Swadian kite shields/pick up somebody's royal shields. You will gain alot more xp/loots shielding and keeping the team alive rather then slashing with no shielder. The best players will notice that this player is shielding helping the team and you will earn their respect and notice.
2nd option - You've just started playing hardmode you don't have any good gear, just play medic for a week or so, you will help the team a lot by this, will again make a lot of xp/loot to be able to get better items and the best players will notice.
3. People have noticed you/shielding/healing for a while now, they will be willing to help you more. Let you join there teams/events and help you get to where you want to be. A good example of this is Lemon. 2-3 weeks this tactic and is now loved by everyone.
4. Also helping you to get further on in the game it is best to use Nordinvasion Irc to find out latest info and to know whats going on ie changes/good servers to be on. Other option is to meet people on the Nordinvasion Teamspeak, a good option if your completely new just got into hardmode, just a simple hello do you need a commando and you could find yourself with a good team. Again don't ask lots of questions.
5. Do not ask lots of questions in hardmode, players hate this. What are we doing, what wave is this, what is that etc. Just gradually learn.
6. Do not join servers and leech, glitch, afk and do nothing. The top players hate this and will see a house tag or a name and remember it for a while and think i'm not playing with this person i will just leave the server.
7. Another tip is if you're a archer don't pick up a pike and start slashing or commando and use a xbow again most players don't like this and it won't make you have a good reputation.
8. Always save a ranger at the end of a round so your team has a chance to repair shields and heal, Archers should stop shooting when two rangers left to kill.
9. Do not show up in hard mode in Tier 1 gear and proclaim that you have no items as you have recently respec class. This will annoy absolutely everyone on the server.
Will update with some more tips/help and better grammar in next few days.
Personal guide for me of staying out of trouble may help others idk -
1. Don't talk in game chat.
2. Don't use Resurrection tome
Also if your a new commando/sniper to hardmode, do not have a house, 16 or over and need help for a limited time i will help you train/get ahead and learn the mechanics of hardmode if you pm me.
EU timezone, soon to be US.
