I'd go for a Royal Shield or a nice 2 hander, like a Boarding Axe.

I had a Boarding axe but I sold it because there is really no point to have it if I am shielding all the time.

Theres no point in buying a royal for a royal guard, get an aegis shield instead. if you cant afford a dwp, fearsome and halfplate will be too expensive too. so after the aegis either save for those or buy better gauntlets (cheaper way to get more bodyarmor)

Why Aegis. I prefer Royal Shield as Royal Guard. But that is also because 100 hitpoints more is not
that much and Aegis Shield is big, doesn't look that nice IMO.

I prefer the royal shield to the Aegis so I will be looking to buy on of them/
