need to waste a bunch of lumps on house craftable armour that could have gone into something useful like a tome.

pck meant that the halfplate costed the equivalent of 3 tomes (not 1 tome as mentioned in the OP)

Eh? PCK always told me that my defender armour was worth 3 tomes. Oh well xD Good luck with the crafting!
