Bullfighting - Roddy Doyle
#1
I don't usually read a lot, but when I'm on holiday, I tend to grab a book along or ask my mum to do so for me. I'm on holiday in Spain now, and I've just finished reading Bullfighting by Irish writer Roddy Doyle. It's a compilation of ca. 10 short-stories all about middle-aged men, midway through life, midway up the social ladder of Ireland right after, right before or during the recession. It's genuinely brilliant, the way in which he can write from the perspective of completely different men, capturing the thoughts of a fraction in 15 pages of paper candy. I've enjoyed this book ceaselessly from the first story all the way to the last one. This'll be one of the first books that I honestly and without doubt recommend to everyone who loves to read a pageturner that keeps you awake, making you want to read just that one more chapter every time you finished the last one.

I do plan on reading more of Doyle's works. If anyone has tried him, please do recommend me another great book of his.
