I have one of these armors on my pikeman and I noticed that it also shows up on my crafting screen as a green crafting material.  It is not actually used in crafting anything as far as the crafting list spreadsheet is concerned.

Green signifies a "Personal Crafted" item (most Armorsmith, Blacksmith, and Alchemist gear).
