How do we get new players?
#31
IMHO you guys should be more concerned with keeping players that join.  The problem is that everyone downloads the mod, plays for a week, then realizes that there's little gear progression without using the forums, crafting or joining a clan (if they even make it to the point where they figure out that those things exist).  This causes the game to gradually devolve into following around the highest level/best equipped players you can find to get as much gold as possible.  Someone else had brought up that one of the biggest issues is the lack of readily-accessible information about the prices of gear and access to that gear, and I agree.  New players don't find a nice piece of kit that they want, set it as a goal and work for it, as the price, how it compares to other gear available and even whether or not it's up for sale are all up in the air.  It's 100x easier to just go play cRPG.

And how do you keep a list of how much things cost when everything that is even semi good is crafted and looted and the price changes from day to day?  You don't.  The closest thing you have to doing that is the Complete guide to Swadians Equipment.  Which i have been working on trying to get up to date.

Maybe its a good thing to add like a achievement style tutorial for the new players I.E. a achievement for crafting your first equipment, or choosing a crafting class. You can always add links to forums/equipment guides in this tutorials. It makes the new players more prepared of what to expect and what they can do.

Got such nice ideas in my head which I would love to work out.

That sounds like a really great idea for how to make progression seem a lot more natural.

Although honestly there are a lot of games that don't hold your hand the whole way through your playthrough and I think this mod could be put under that category. Even then it does not take a lot of effort to go and look up the information which, for the most part, is readily available. There is also no point in talking about values of items when prices are in constant motion.

A direct link to the new players guide or equipment costing guide or something on the site would help new players/players already joined will both show them the forum and show them how to play the game and the appropriate buying/selling price of gear so they (i hope) dont get scammed, rage, then quit the mod
A loot a year keeps the interested here

Maybe an initial spwan message would be good. Something along the lines of, "Don't forget to check out the forum.nordinvasion.com site for more information and community posts"

That could go along with the donate message that pops up on servers every now and then

How do we get more players? Its simple, just get people to make video content for nordinvasion, and make them entertaining, or just tell your friends to tell other friends. I don't think adding ingame content will get more players to come in, but it could effect people to persuade more people to join in the fun. I myself tried to get my friend to play this game. He ended up trying out nordinvasion, but he just didn't like the game. So, i think we just need different ways to introduce people to play, like making video content. I mean, have you seen youtubers, like vanoss, or like, pewdiepie? All of thier videosjust make you WANT to play the games.

Agreed. Also, searching the forums for info on the gear, posting WTK price and so on is an important part of fun. I wouldn't like to see it imcorporated into the game itself. Like Sargent Q said: there are threads like Complete Guide..., Legendary Items, crafting recipes lists. And there is always the possibility to post your question whatever it might, ppl will reply.
