This has been brought up many times since house crafting was implemented. The developers decided it was a bad idea. Due to first of all houses having all crafting professions in 1 house, secondly because it was too easy to spread it out over a 24hr day with multiple people doing it which excluded any form of house co-operation with other houses, thirdly because not all Captains and leaders get along which could cause house arguments about what to do with materials and house crafting goals. I am sure there are other reasons as well, either way, I think their decision was a good one.
