As someone that was the first to get all 16 heroes coming back to this game, seeing massive hero changes was pretty exciting however, I'm honestly pretty disappointed in the way that RG has been handled in this update but more so the class in general from the start I guess?
It is a class that fundamentally at high investment with upgraded Phoenix Shield is relatively pointless on good teams where extra shield skill isnt necessary.. You could just have 2 or 3 Shields on you and be crazy enough be a little bit active in a game (shocking)
It is a hero that fundamentally incentivizes sitting there and doing fuck all for lack of better words... In optimal gameplay yea a shielder goes out and makes the ranged into melee and brings them in but they dont really have a massive Incentive to do that because it risks death and its not like they can kill things fast in combat vs any other heroes
I was the 1st to get upgraded defender and as I've said from the start of that class you don't need as good of a shield if your body is the shield itself. Zwei atm at high Investment simply outclasses Rg In vast majority of cases... Legionnaire is its own problem child that arguably could be the best class in the game, but given its Winters child I don't think any one can suggest anything otherwise.
I think it would be more beneficial rather than increasing the shield skill to 12 keeping it at 10 maybe 11 then buffing 1h/2h skill? Like it doesnt have the armour Zwei has at this point and it doesnt have the throwing Legionnaire has so I think it would be pretty interesting if 1h/2h was like 2nd/3rd best in the game? This incentivizes the class to be a little bit more active and can actually help the team slashing if they have too many Rgs
This is where I'm going to suggest something that may split players a bit where I own gear that would be buffed? changed? where my personal biases may come in I am fully admitting that now.
If you follow my line of thought would be very interesting if bastard weapons were locked to Rg? Like the weapons themselves have always been very useful on your Rg allowing you to bring in a weapon that acts as both while you bring in 2 shields? Them having a unique 2nd mode is very fitting with 1 hero locked weapons as well
Aurora Blade I think is in a relatively good spot fastest 2h other then Pride but less damage then Legacy and 1h its like very unique/powerful on cav
Like I own upgraded ironsong I still think that should be the best for at the cades behind an Rg doing high damage. Think it would be Interesting and fun If Mjolnir what specialized in knockdown? It kind of does have a fitting name after all? This makes it more ideal for an Rg trying to corner a boss doing his job rather then atm
