Adjusting Wave Boss Spawn Mechanics

I would like to suggest a change to the current wave boss spawn mechanics. Currently, a boss is guaranteed to spawn every 3 waves, which can make the system feel predictable. To make it more dynamic and engaging, I propose switching this mechanic to a percentage-based chance for the boss to spawn instead of being guaranteed.

For example:
  • Instead of a boss appearing every 3 waves, there could be a 50% chance for a boss to spawn on those waves.
  • If a boss doesn’t spawn, the wave could include an extra 10 normal enemies to maintain challenge and balance.
This change would add an element of surprise and unpredictability, making the gameplay more exciting and less repetitive.
What do you think? I believe this adjustment could improve the overall experience of wave progression.

The challenge waves already have 2 different types of enemies that spawn, switching it up a bit.

Due to lowering loot chance I'd be against this. The fun is in the loot, g.

No. It depends if the boss spawn is capped to once in its designated three-wave cycle. If it isn't, within three waves, these are the probabilities:

12.5% no boss spawns
37.5% boss spawns once
37.5% boss spawns twice
12.5% boss spawns 3 times

And the expected value (and mean, since they're all weighted equally) is 1.5 spawns per 3 waves instead of 1 spawn per 3 waves, or 50% more bosses (over a long course of time).

If it's capped to once in its designated three-wave cycle, then it will be fewer (0 bosses 25% of the time, 1 boss 87.5% of the time) for an expected value of 0.875 spawns per 3 waves. I'm not spelling out the probabilities because I think this is trivial, even though the events are dependent.

Be interested as an indicator "of the boss spawned got a X% chance someone is going to loot we need to tome"

My biggest problem with this suggestion in general is making this game easier sounds lame.. maybe it's nostalgia but 10 years ago we didn't have this power creep in items where in every single game I feel like I'm seeing multiple people bring in upgrades

People's gear is dramatically better at what point do the bots get a buff they deserve

I agree with the power creep comment. I'm not for making the game easier. With more legendaries dropping the last few years and more mats longer than that, I think making the bots more powerful with better xp would be a better alternative.

Out of curiosity, would you want a more difficult mode with no drops whatsoever?

If your answer is yes, then congratulations, you're a real gamer that wants a challenge. Why you are seeking this in a solved PvE tower defense game is a completely different question, but let's stop there.

If your answer is no, then what you want is neither difficulty nor challenge. I bring this up because I highly suspect that the answer for most of this mod's players is no. See previous Halloween events.

Only option they have other then doing nothing the negativity effect doesn't allow Devs to nerf our gear too much because people will cry like babies 

Alternatively could buff just the bosses effects in either how often they happen or how much damage they do or both

The fact that Nord invasion is a game that needs basically no communication at this point to finish the hardest difficulty... effectively just a slot machine for people to hit a high as the core game feels mundane is kinda sad

At one point rag runs in pubs was a joke almost and now it's people's default expectation almost that one will happen and win every day

Maybe just Rag should have it's bots buffed along with XP/gold as well? We might as well come out with some new legendries as well while were at it. lmao

3. Xbow gloves that are better then studded probably 15 armour so not the 16 that gothic has

Existing items getting stat/model changes is where I'm very interested in where that goes.. If classes got this many changes be foolish to think items themselves are getting 0 changes excited to see what happens.
