Is it normal for my 'Sent messages' to be empty even when I know I've sent some?

Ye, you only see a "My Messages[1]" when someone has sent you a message.
If you sent someone a PM you need to wait till he replies. You see the green box "Your message has been sent successfully" and this is the sign the message has been sent to the other guy.

It only saves a copy if you check "Save a copy in my outbox"
