Well, I'm back after a absence of at least a year and a half, I think. What's all this nonsense about hero classes and Ragnarok mode? Why do I suck so badly? I want a better crossbow than a siege crossbow, I demand welfare.

Hero classes are specialized classes within the base class system of archer, skirmisher, commando, and crossbow. There are three hero classes for each base class, resulting in a total of twelve possible hero classes. To spec into a hero class, you must have 750,000 gold and 13 class points. The current Hard mode was added as an intermediate mode between old hard mode and normal mode. The old hard mode was renamed to Ragnarok mode. More information can be found in the Strategies and Tips section (probably).

An explanation: if you want to have a strong crossbowman, you need lots of cash. The best way to get cash is through drops. Best way to get drops are through soloing as a pikeman/archer. Even commandos have an easier time contributing to the success of runs by virtue of their ability to shield to create the much needed shieldwall. Lower level crossbowmen don't have many options when it comes to playstyle.

It might be worth noting that xbow is one of the easiest classes to get kills on as a low level.  The reload speed and accuracy may not be great but it is pretty nice to one shot most normal mode enemies as a t2.  You also don't really suffer in melee the same way archers do.  Although click is right, it is a pretty expensive class once you are higher level.

Note that I already have a crossbow/infantry hybrid, and I'm level 52. I don't think making another character from the ground up is going to contribute anymore than what I already have until I make him into one of the hero classes.

Cash I can work on I guess, but I've never had luck on drops before. Everyone else always walking around with Gastraphetes, Sharpshooter, Hurricane Bows and their Sun Pikes, and the most I've ever gotten is a Grinder Helmet I can't even use.
